Eye contact correction
What it does: when you look at a question or an answer on screen, the other person still sees you looking toward the camera. Video is processed on your computer only. Nothing is uploaded or recorded.
How it takes effect: it doesn't turn on by itself when you open CalmRound. You set it up the way your computer supports, then pick the matching camera in your meeting app.
Check for free before you buy: the check in CalmRound tells you whether this computer can use it and which option to use. If it can't, it says so.
Supported devices
Find your computer below. You only need one of these.
| Device | Support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windows + NVIDIA RTX 20-series or newer GPU | Recommended | Windows 10 or 11, an RTX 20-series or newer GPU, at least 8 GB of memory, and graphics driver 572.61 or later (older drivers can't install NVIDIA Broadcast, so update first). Uses NVIDIA's free Broadcast app. |
| Windows 11 AI PC (with an NPU) | Supported | Uses the built-in Windows Studio Effects, nothing to install. Needs Windows 11 22H2 or later, a supported NPU and the manufacturer's Studio Effects driver. It only corrects up and down, and works best when you look at the center of the screen. |
| Mac | Supported | CalmRound includes its own "Studio Framing Camera", nothing else to install. Needs macOS 12.3 or later; allow the camera extension once when macOS asks. |
| No RTX GPU / other computers | Not available | Without an RTX 20-series or newer GPU, and not a Windows 11 AI PC with an NPU, automatic eye contact correction isn't possible. Switching to another camera won't change that. |
Set it up
The easiest way: in CalmRound open Account · Plans → Eye contact and click Check and turn on eye contact. It tells you whether this computer can use it and which option to follow. Every option has the same three steps: turn it on, test once with Test current camera, then pick the right camera in your meeting app.
Option 1 · Windows + NVIDIA RTX GPU
- Needs: Windows 10 or 11, an RTX 20-series or newer GPU, graphics driver 572.61 or later.
- Driver older than 572.61: update it in the NVIDIA App → Drivers, or download it for your GPU from NVIDIA's official driver download page. After updating, restart your computer, then click Check again in CalmRound.
- Turn it on: download the full offline installer for your GPU from the NVIDIA Broadcast page (about 2 GB) and run it as administrator. Skip the small online installer; it often stalls at "OTA Dependencies". Open NVIDIA Broadcast → Video, pick your physical camera, turn on Eye Contact and leave Broadcast running.
- Test once: click Test current camera and preview
Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast). It shows video even with Eye Contact off, so compare once: look where the answer window will be, switch Eye Contact off once and on once in Broadcast, and when your eyes clearly look straight at the lens with it on, click I can see the effect. CalmRound shows it as ready only after that. - In your meeting app: choose
Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast), and keep Broadcast running during the interview.
Option 2 · Windows 11 AI PC
- Needs: Windows 11 22H2 or later with an NPU, and "Windows Studio Effects Driver" listed in Device Manager. Nothing to install.
- Turn it on: click Turn on Eye contact. CalmRound asks the camera driver directly, turns it on and reads it back to confirm. If the check says this camera isn't supported, it can't be used. To do it by hand: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Cameras → your camera → Windows Studio Effects → Eye contact (choose "Teleprompter" if offered).
- Test once: click Test current camera. Look at the center of the screen and toggle Eye contact off and on in camera settings; if your eyes look more level with the lens, it's working. Don't test by looking down at the keyboard, which is outside what it can correct.
- In your meeting app: keep the physical camera selected. A virtual camera (such as Lenovo Virtual Camera) has no correction.
- Limits: it only corrects up and down, works best at the center of the screen and weakens toward the edges. That's the system's limit, not a setting you got wrong.
Option 3 · Mac
- Needs: macOS 12.3 or later, CalmRound in the Applications folder, and camera access allowed. Nothing else to install.
- Turn it on: click Enable correction camera and allow it once when macOS asks. No prompt? Go to System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions and turn on
Studio Framing Camera. On macOS 12.3–14, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security instead, scroll down to the blocked system software notice and click Allow. After you allow it in System Settings, quit CalmRound completely (Command+Q) and open it again. - Test once: click Test current camera and preview
Studio Framing Camera. If your gaze looks natural, click Video and eye contact look natural. - In your meeting app: choose
Studio Framing Camera(quit and reopen the app if it was already running). Keep CalmRound running for the whole interview.
Pick the camera in your meeting app
- Which camera: Option 1 →
Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast); Option 2 → your physical camera; Option 3 →Studio Framing Camera. Don't pick third-party virtual cameras such as OBS Virtual Camera. After a successful test, CalmRound's Eye contact window shows which one to use next time. - Where: Zoom: Settings → Video → Camera. Microsoft Teams: Settings → Devices → Camera. Google Meet: Settings → Video → Camera. Webex and others: the Video or Camera section of settings.
- Refresh the feed: right after turning it on or installing, switch the camera away and back, or quit and reopen the meeting app.
How to get it
- Unlock: it unlocks automatically once your purchases total $75, or while you have a VIP pass of 7 days or more. See Pricing.
- Set it up: in CalmRound open
Account · Plans → Eye contact, click Check and turn on eye contact, and follow the three steps in Set it up above.
Common questions
It works in CalmRound but not in my meeting
The meeting app is using the wrong camera. Pick the one listed under Which camera, then switch the camera away and back once.
NVIDIA Broadcast fails to install with "OTA Dependencies"
You downloaded the online installer. Get the full offline installer for your GPU and run it as administrator. If an earlier install failed, uninstall it and restart first.
NVIDIA Broadcast says it needs driver 572.61 or later
Update your graphics driver in the NVIDIA App, or download it for your GPU from NVIDIA's official driver download page. Restart your computer, install Broadcast again, then click Check again in CalmRound.
Studio Framing Camera is missing on my Mac, or shows a waiting screen
Make sure CalmRound is running, then check two switches: Privacy & Security → Camera allows CalmRound, and Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions has Studio Framing Camera on (macOS 12.3–14 has no such list: click Allow in Privacy & Security instead). Reopen the meeting app. Still missing? Download and install the latest version from the download page.
The camera is black, busy or laggy
Close other apps using the camera and turn off effects like background blur, plug in the charger, and try again.
Test it at least once before a real interview. Questions? Email [email protected].
