What's new
v1.0.112
This release makes Function-key handling a one-tap affair on supported Windows laptops, keeps the disguised app's icons and file description brand-free, explains why full click-through is required in the dual-camera guide, brings back the Android app with a rebuilt overlay, and adds a retry banner for interrupted overseas checkouts — plus fixes for auto-answer talking over the interviewer, route review right at interview start, the overlay not coming back after being hidden in preview, and typing being swallowed by bare-key shortcuts.
New
- One-tap Fn off on supported Windows laptops: ASUS and Lenovo models with a vendor interface can turn off media-key mode from the preparation page or Settings instead of rebooting into the BIOS. The app reads the setting back, rolls back if it does not match, and falls back to the manual steps when it cannot. An administrator session is required; other machines keep "use a key that doesn't need Fn" and the 10-second manual route.
- Clearer dual-camera guide: screenshots open full-screen, and the third step shows Fusion Mode and full click-through side by side and explains why full click-through is required.
- The full click-through hint no longer dims the answer: the escape card shown when you enter full click-through now uses a solid dark background instead of dimming the answer text.
- Interrupted overseas payments can be retried: when a checkout is not completed, the app now says the payment did not go through and offers "Retry payment"; a late success still updates the order, the banner comes back when you reopen the app, and pending orders keep the "I have paid" action.
- The Android app is back, with a rebuilt overlay: for interviews that run in a meeting app on your phone. The computer still listens and writes the answers, and the phone keeps them floating over the meeting. The overlay now grows with the answer text, the latest question stays on one live line, the newest answer sits on top, the Fusion toolbar fades out after five seconds, and closing the overlay returns to the app. A background keep-alive setting keeps the connection when you switch to the meeting app, and a persistent notification says CalmRound is running in the background. How the Android app works →
Important fixes
- Auto-answer no longer talks over the interviewer: it waits until the question is finished; with large materials (requests over 64 KB) the second-line resend window widens from 2.5 to 4 seconds, so one question does not upload the whole knowledge base twice.
- Route review at interview start is safer: representative-answer reviews run one at a time and are skipped while the warmup cache is not ready, so there is no wrong region switch right after the start.
- Cleaner disguise on Windows: Task Manager shows the English file name instead of the Chinese brand name, and the taskbar, Alt+Tab and window thumbnails consistently use the printer icon instead of falling back to the brand icon.
- Mac eye contact triggers more reliably: the threshold no longer sits in the natural eye-open range, so dim light and side angles still trigger the correction.
- The overlay comes back after being hidden in preview: pressing Ctrl+~ in the preview hid the overlay and a second press could not bring it back; it now returns to the screen as expected.
- Typing in an input field is no longer swallowed by bare-key shortcuts: with the answer key set to a bare key such as "1", phone-number, materials and other input fields accept digits and letters again; shortcuts return when the field loses focus, and non-character keys such as F1 are untouched.
- Security hardening: the desktop client no longer embeds provider API keys and now calls the model service with short-lived credentials issued by our server.
Notes
- Windows built-in eye contact (our own virtual camera) is still being finished and stays off in this release; Mac eye contact remains available.
v1.0.111
This was an internal build and was never published; all of its changes are included in 1.0.112.
v1.0.110
This release rebuilds the update path end to end — the app asks before installing on quit, the install is visible, a failed install leaves evidence, and differential updates finally download only the changed part — and makes the phone pairing code six digits.
New
- The app asks before installing on quit: when you quit with an update waiting, a card offers "Install now" or "Next time". "Always install automatically" is off by default and only turns on when you choose it.
- The install is visible: a full-screen notice says the app is closing and the installer is starting; the installer shows "waiting N seconds (up to 180)"; after 20 seconds it warns that a permission prompt or antivirus may be blocking the install.
- A quit-triggered install no longer starts the app again: "Run" stays unchecked on the finish page, so you open the app from the desktop icon when you want it; launching it yourself still opens the new version.
- Failed installs leave evidence: an installer log with personal details removed is uploaded, a banner says the last attempt at vX did not install and offers a retry, and two failures in a row stop automatic installs.
- Updates really save bandwidth: the update from 1.0.108 to 1.0.109 downloaded 12.46 MB instead of 136.16 MB — 9.15% of the full package, because only the changed part is transferred.
- The tray tells you an update is ready: the tooltip and the menu entry say "Install new version vX", and in stealth mode no balloon is shown.
- Disk space is checked before installing: if there is not enough room, the app says exactly how much more is needed instead of failing halfway.
- Six-digit phone pairing code: the code is shown next to the QR code, copies with one click, and also appears on the "cannot connect" page. Older letter-and-digit links still work.
- Speaker mode stops claiming "no sound" wrongly: if any words are recognised, the microphone counts as working, and a recording that finishes early is no longer treated as a failure.
- Eye contact speaks only to the people who use it: the pre-check runs only for people who have set up eye contact, the diagnostic says what to do right now, the Mac guide explains the limits of the effect, and a dropped connection is reported once.
- Fn key explanations make sense on laptops: when F1 is treated as a volume or brightness key, the app explains why and offers two ways out — choose a key that doesn't need Fn, or turn Fn off yourself within 10 seconds. You can also tell it not to ask again.
Important fixes
- The old Windows black-block warning says why: it now explains the system limit behind it, suggests reading answers on your phone, and is shown as a yellow warning instead of an error.
- Oversized materials list the biggest entries: when a set of materials is too large, the warning names the largest items so you know what to trim.
- The microphone always stops after an interview: recording ends when the interview ends, so the microphone is free for other apps.
- Brand placeholders are consistent across the UI: the app name and other brand placeholders now match everywhere they appear.
v1.0.109
This release turns the post-interview review into a complete flow, makes F1 better in speaker-mode interviews, splits coding answers into "code to submit" and "run to verify", and aligns the prompts and UI copy across all eight languages.
New
- Interview recording and review: every session keeps a recording, and the review page plays it line by line from wherever you click; idle time converts recordings to a smaller format, and export still works. The review page leads with the session's conclusions, then per-question critique and delivery data. Weak questions are flagged and can be practised with one click in a focused mock interview.
- Interview records can store company, role, round and result: full-text search, results and scores visible in the list, and deleted sessions can be restored for 7 days.
- Coding answers come in two parts: a ready-to-submit code block (with Java imports included) and a "run to verify" section opened with F4 or Ctrl+F4.
- Older versions are prompted to update: one prompt at startup that can be dismissed, at most once a day.
- Overlay text colour is configurable, and the overlay toolbar is trimmed to the actions used during an interview.
- Script window: Ctrl+Alt+N moves to the next script and wraps back to the first.
- Resume images can be dragged in and are read as text; a busy parser is retried once without charging twice.
- The onboarding card can be dismissed instead of staying pinned to the home screen.
Important fixes
- F1 in speaker mode no longer reads your own line back: when the newest line is fingerprint-confirmed as you, it searches back for the real question; the "we only hear you" hint now gives steps you can follow on the spot.
- Prompt alignment across nine languages: "use your own answer first" is now graded — verbatim only for the same question, while partial or off-scope material is re-explained in your own material; project questions missing from your materials no longer open with "I haven't done that"; general knowledge questions no longer force your resume in.
- Mac hotkeys avoid the combinations that type @, and the start-of-interview self-check tells you whether Fn is needed in one press, then stops probing once the interview starts.
- Faster reconnection after ASR drops: a network change reconnects immediately, and the UI explains the drop instead of hanging silently.
- The installer shows one status line, the runtime installer runs silently, and a 20-second stall offers retry or cancel instead of an unresponsive wait.
- Overseas balance is now shown in credits, consistently in the app, website and support replies.
- Less work in long sessions: the overlay, answer list and material search drop repeated computation, so the later part of a long interview stays responsive.
v1.0.108
This release makes updating a one-tap job and fixes the most noticeable problems in materials, F1 and mock interviews.
New
- Update once, with visible progress: download and install progress is shown at the top instead of an empty screen. Closing the window during download resumes from where it stopped, cancelling an install continues it to completion, and reinstalling keeps the existing install folder.
- Materials take effect on upload; "organize" is optional: upload first; the page now says the material is in effect and will be used by the AI. "Turn into Q&A" moves from a banner above the tabs to a secondary action in the toolbar; it produces a draft, and the materials work without it. The narrow empty state no longer repeats its heading, rows expand, and delete is spaced away from edit.
- F1 answers the half-sentence you already said: pressing F1 before the interviewer finishes no longer returns "no question recognized"; it answers with the recognized half-sentence.
- The full-screen mock coding problem no longer covers the overlay: the overlay stays above the problem; Esc, the tray menu or the overlay's "Hide problem" button puts the problem away without ending the interview or hiding the overlay, and "Show problem" brings it back.
- Older Windows says "black block only" honestly: on Windows 10 1909 and similar builds, full-screen sharing can only show a black block. The UI used to claim stealth was on; it now says the black block will show and suggests upgrading Windows or using the phone for answers.
- Earlier warning for large materials: above 50k tokens the app warns that every answer uploads the whole set and the first word will be slower, with a recommended range. Connection keep-alive now triggers by cache age, reducing needless waits and cost.
Important fixes
- Eye-contact camera failures now name what is using the camera: permission, Broadcast not running, Broadcast holding it, or another app, each with its own conclusion; the preview opens the camera the meeting will actually use instead of telling people to close their meeting app.
- The admin console can no longer lock you out with your own failed attempts: credentials are checked before the lock, and a correct password clears the counter; the threshold is 30 attempts / 3 minutes and can be changed by environment variable.
- Space-key copy follows the interface language: the Chinese interface now names the space bar in Chinese, and the other eight languages match.
v1.0.107
This release fixes the Mac one-click installer and makes the microphone self-check point you at the right setting.
Important fixes
- The Mac one-click installer finds the app inside a browser-downloaded DMG: it used to stop with "the installer is incomplete: app not found". It now looks the app up on the mounted disk, and if that still fails it tells you to drag the app into Applications instead of leaving you stuck.
- The microphone self-check no longer sends you to the wrong setting: when nothing is received at all it checks the input device and system permission instead of telling you to raise the volume. The first silent attempt only asks you to try again; the settings checklist appears after a second one, so a quiet room cannot look like a broken microphone.
- The exam-client entry is hidden for now: it is still being finished, so this release shows no entry on Windows or macOS until acceptance is complete.
v1.0.106
This release reworks the first-run guide and turns the mock interview into a full session. It also fixes several stealth, overlay and payment problems.
New
- Reworked first-run guide: the first launch opens a getting-started screen that shows all six things you need to know on one page, at your own pace. A task progress bar then walks you through watching the tutorial, trying it once and importing materials. The two repeated pre-checks before your first real interview are gone.
- The first AI mock interview is a 3-question warm-up: new users answer three questions to learn the flow, billed by the minute, then decide whether to run a full session.
- Mock interviews are full sessions: 16 questions for general and technical interviews, 14 for project and behavioral, about 30 to 40 minutes, staged as opening experience, project deep dive, role judgement, collaboration and motivation, then closing follow-ups, instead of ending after a few questions.
- The overlay shows the current stage and pace: which question you are on, how many remain and which stage the session is in.
- Coding questions can fill the screen as a backdrop: the overlay keeps the controls and the F4 hint so the problem is easier to read.
- Login language selection redesigned: both dropdowns match the input styling and the explanation is one sentence instead of a repeated status.
- The exam-client entry follows the platform: shown on Windows, hidden on macOS until the Windows guest runs reliably on Apple silicon.
Important fixes
- Demo mode on Windows 11 21H2 now takes effect after a restart: it used to lift capture protection and write it back while running, which left a window where the overlay could be captured. Switching demo mode no longer touches protection during a live interview, and turning it off tells you a restart will restore stealth, which you can do later.
- When the system rejects the overlay right after it appears, it recovers within 0.6 seconds by hiding and rebuilding instead of leaving a black box.
- If capture protection cannot be written, the overlay rebuilds the same transparent window first and only falls back to an opaque window if that also fails.
- A temporary window destroyed during startup no longer makes the app quit immediately.
- A delivered mock-interview reference answer no longer disappears, including after the overlay is rebuilt.
- Payments no longer place orders by themselves: quick top-up and switching the recommended plan only select it; a second tap is required to create the order.
- The phone QR sharing warning is available in all nine interface languages: German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Russian used to show a Chinese sentence.
- German onboarding copy now consistently uses the formal address.
v1.0.105
This release brings together everything from 1.0.102, 1.0.103, 1.0.104 and the work after them. If you are still on 1.0.101, every change below arrives in this single update.
New
- Nine interface languages and nine interview languages: Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Russian. Menus, settings and messages follow the interface language you choose. The interview language can be any of the nine: ask in a language and the answer comes back in it.
- Six new mixed "Chinese + X" interview modes: Chinese–German, Chinese–Spanish, Chinese–French, Chinese–Korean, Chinese–Italian and Chinese–Russian. Together with the existing Chinese–English and Chinese–Japanese modes there are eight: a Chinese question is answered in Chinese and a foreign-language question in that language. Language setup is now two levels — pick the main language, then use the "answer Chinese questions in Chinese" switch to turn mixing on.
- Deep disguise is part of the regular app: the regular installer already includes it, so there is no need to download a separate stealth build. Turn it on in Settings → General → Deep disguise. The app then runs under a neutral name and icon: on Windows the process name in Task Manager, the taskbar icon, and the desktop and Start-menu shortcuts all show a neutral name and icon instead, so the app's own name does not appear there; on a Mac the process name, the menu bar and the Dock switch to the neutral identity, but the app itself keeps its name in the Applications folder and is still visible in Finder and Launchpad. It needs one restart, cannot be switched during an interview, and can be turned off again at any time. It is available in both the domestic and the overseas build.
- One-click macOS installer: the DMG now ships an installer. Double-click it and it quits the running copy, replaces the app in Applications and reopens it, so there is no manual drag-and-drop and no risk of an old copy still running. The installer interface is available in nine languages. Dragging the app into Applications still works as before.
- Preview the secure screen-share display: in Settings → General → Secure screen share, click Preview this screen (90 s). An Extended Display appears for 90 seconds so you can open the meeting app and check that it lists the screen. It appears automatically when an interview starts and is taken away when the interview ends.
- Dual-engine speed stays on, and VIP allowance is more forgiving: with dual engine on, a low balance no longer switches back to single engine; the switch shows roughly how many minutes of speed the balance still covers. When points run out the interview pauses as before, and Resume interview continues after a top-up; existing subscribers get 20 points each when their free period ends. Unused VIP allowance is carried into later cycles, up to twice the normal cycle quota; the 90-day plan goes from 500 to 600 points every three days; and when both the cycle allowance and points are used up, an interview already in progress can continue (up to about an hour per cycle) without spending points.
- External VM mode: available on Windows and Mac. With it on, when VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox, UTM, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox or a remote desktop covers the overlay in full screen, the overlay returns to the top without stealing focus, so typing and clicking inside the VM keep working.
- Alipay's official checkout window: ordering opens Alipay's own checkout directly; scanning with the phone app brings up the payment confirmation, and you can also sign in to Alipay in the window. The window shows loading progress first and falls back to a usable QR code or the browser when it fails.
- Top up from the overlay in one click: the overlay reminds you when about six minutes and then one minute are left. Top up opens checkout and, once you have paid, returns you to the overlay so the interview can carry on.
- Export a backup of your materials: on the materials page, Export writes every Q&A, background note and script set to a folder you pick, as plain text you can open directly, plus a copy of the raw data. The files stay on your computer and are never uploaded — useful before moving to a new machine or reinstalling.
- Take back a login on this computer: an account can be signed in on one computer at a time. After you sign in on a new computer, the old one now shows a Continue on this computer button; one click signs the other machine out and keeps you working here without entering your account and password again. Phone and web sessions are unaffected.
- Android app 1.0.104 rebuilt: the phone interview console now labels its actions and explains what the materials area is for, with an Edit entry. Knowledge and materials can be imported from a file with the title filled in, a character count and a 20,000-character limit. In full-screen answer view the transcript moves to a floating bar at the bottom and answers get more room; after leaving full screen you can disconnect the computer from the console.
Fixes
- Domestic and overseas builds no longer mix brands or payment channels: brand, payment channel and account page follow the installed build, not the interface language or your IP address. The domestic build keeps its own name in all nine languages and the overseas build shows only its own brand name; a domestic build no longer shows a US-dollar card form just because the interface is in English, and the account page, roles, categories and year ranges no longer fall back to Chinese in non-Chinese interfaces.
- A dropped phone says so, and the notice clears on reconnect: when phone mode loses the computer, the overlay shows "Phone disconnected — waiting to reconnect"; on reconnect "Phone connected" appears and disappears after 2.5 seconds. The notice stays in the page flow: it does not cover answers, intercept clicks or make a sound.
- Crashes and dropped connections recover on their own: a renderer crash reloads once, and if that still fails you get a way out you can act on. Speech recognition reconnects after a drop instead of giving up the second time; changing the interview language mid-interview switches the recognition channel too; and in the US and Germany, where no real-time recognition is available, it reconnects through Singapore so captions come back while answers still use your local route.
- Materials are no longer repeated across questions: once a material has been delivered in full, the next question points only at its title and the new part instead of repeating the whole text. This is effective in a small Chinese sample; other languages may still repeat.
- Developer-tools shortcuts are blocked during interviews: during a real interview, F12, Ctrl+Shift+I/J/C/K and Ctrl+U are blocked with a one-time notice, then restored when the interview ends. Normal use outside interviews is unaffected.
- Answer accuracy fixes: answers now carry today's date, fixing "2021 to now counted as three-plus years" errors. Multi-line short answers in the F5 written test keep their line breaks and bullet points, and the default answer leads with the conclusion and then expands, ready to submit. In a purely English interview, a question about an experience the materials do not cover no longer offers two possible versions, which could read as inventing experience.
- Windows upgrades no longer leave the old version behind: on computers where 1.0.97 or earlier was installed for all users, installing the new version manually removes the old copy and closes its windows first (it asks for administrator approval once; declining does not block the install). Automatic updates install silently and never open the old uninstaller in the background: after the update the app shows a "Remove old copy" notice, and one click plus one approval removes it, so "updated but still forced to update" does not come back. On Windows 11 builds (for example 22000) that reject screen-capture protection on a regular window, the main window is rebuilt as a software-composited window, and protection is reported as on only when it actually succeeded.
- Mac display fixes: eye contact now follows the iris position, moving the image by roughly 4 pixels instead of about 1; a slight downward tilt is corrected too, looking straight ahead stays still, and turning the head no longer drags the iris sideways into a cross-eyed look. On Apple-silicon Macs, sharing the whole screen in a browser no longer turns the overlay into a grey block on your own display.
- Mac eye contact gains an eye-redraw model: besides the existing iris-based geometry shift, two local models bundled with the camera extension redraw the eyes. When the models are unavailable or no face is detected in a frame, it falls back to the original geometry shift automatically, so the picture is never interrupted by the fallback.
- Mac eye contact no longer stretches the picture: cameras that are not 16:9 (4:3 is common) used to be forced into a 16:9 frame, flattening faces sideways in meetings; the picture now fills the frame at its own proportions and is cropped from the centre, with no distortion.
- Windows eye contact now explains an old Windows version: on a PC with an NPU but a system older than Windows 11 22H2 (or a 22H2 that has not reached Build 22623.885) the check used to say simply "not supported"; it now says the system version is too old and that upgrading may make it work. Hardware that genuinely does not support it is still reported as unsupported.
- Cleaner speech and transcript: an interviewer's sentence split by the microphone echo no longer becomes two entries; mixed Chinese and English no longer leave a Chinese comma glued to a Latin sentence, and terms such as Dify and NebulaGraph are corrected; the transcript no longer rearranges itself word by word while someone is speaking and the speaker label no longer changes midway; a microphone that only picks up background noise is reported and the app switches to a working one; and starting an interview no longer needs several clicks or freezes for minutes when a headset is plugged in or the audio device changes.
- The Alipay checkout window returns you to the app, and × closes it: the window used to reuse an old link with no return step, so after paying you were left on the Alipay page. It now checks before reusing and issues a fresh payment link when the old one cannot bring you back. Alipay's own close guard also used to make the × button do nothing; the window closes normally now.
- Mock interviews on the web and on phones keep the question prompt in one language: the prompt used to mix Chinese and English; it is now entirely in the language you chose.
Improvements
- "Deep stealth" and "deep disguise" are now three levels: the settings offer Off / Hide taskbar icon / Deep disguise. Upgrading maps your previous setting automatically, and switching back to an older version reads the same configuration.
- Answers from materials default to "flexible restructuring": a follow-up question reorganises the answer around the current question instead of reading the material verbatim. If you previously chose "original answer first" nothing changes; everyone else sees a one-time note after upgrading, can switch back to reading the script with one click, and can change it at any time in settings.
- Automatic answering is faster and more careful: the confirmation window is timed against real silence, so answers appear sooner after you stop speaking while the confirmation window is kept. Greetings, wrap-ups and scripted announcements no longer trigger an automatic answer, and the same question is not generated twice.
- Smaller everyday improvements: the shortcut is shown as Ctrl+~; clicking the Windows tray icon opens the main window; before you have used the shortcuts, the overlay explains how to get back from full click-through or hiding; the Chinese reference for foreign-language answers is shown in two columns on wide screens; and the preparation screen grows to fit its content, without a scrollbar.
v1.0.104
New
- Nine interface languages: Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Russian. Menus, settings and messages follow the interface language you choose. Interview languages now cover nine languages, plus the mixed Chinese–English and Chinese–Japanese modes.
- Preview the secure screen-share display: in Settings → General → Secure screen share, click Preview this screen (90 s) to check that your meeting app lists the Extended Display before an interview. If the display is taken away mid-interview, or screen-recording permission is missing, the overlay says so and suggests sharing a single window instead.
- Top up from the overlay in one click: the overlay reminds you when about six minutes and then one minute are left. Top up opens checkout and, once you have paid, returns you to the overlay so the interview can carry on.
- Export your materials: click Export materials at the top of Resume & notes and choose a folder. Every set is saved as plain text — Q&A, background notes and scripts. Files stay on your computer, and export pauses during an interview.
- Continue on this computer: if your account is signed in on another computer, the sign-in screen offers Continue on this computer. You take over here and the other computer is signed out; materials and records are not affected.
- One-click Mac installer: the DMG now includes an installer. Double-click Install CalmRound: it quits a running copy, moves the old version to the Trash, installs into Applications and opens the new version. If installation fails, the old version stays.
- Android app: a redesigned phone interview console with labelled actions, file import for knowledge and materials (title filled in, character count, 20,000-character limit), a roomier full-screen answer view with the transcript in a bottom bar, and a disconnect entry on the console after leaving full screen.
Fixes
- Domestic builds keep their own brand in every interface language; only the overseas build uses the CalmRound brand.
- English interviews no longer offer two versions of an experience the materials do not cover; Chinese and bilingual interviews keep both versions.
- Multi-line short answers survive the F5 written test, and the default answer is ready to submit, leading with the conclusion.
- More accurate eye contact on Mac, now following the iris position by roughly 4 pixels, with no sideways pull when the head turns.
- Cleaner speech recognition: interviewer sentences split by microphone echo no longer become two entries, and mixed-language punctuation no longer sticks together.
- Easier camera setup in VM mode with the UsbDk version check and a restart hint when Windows is waiting for one.
- Windows screen protection falls back cleanly when a Windows 11 build rejects it on a regular window, and only reports success when it actually succeeded.
- Starting an interview after being offline no longer stalls, and failure messages give recovery steps you can take.
Improvements
- One stealth control with three levels: Off / Hide taskbar icon (on a Mac, Hide the Dock icon) / Deep disguise.
v1.0.103
New
- macOS VM overlay: with External VM mode on in Settings → General, the overlay stays above full-screen VMware Fusion, Parallels, VirtualBox, UTM or Remote Desktop without stealing focus.
- Android app: phone-only interviews and live answer viewing on your phone. Sign in with your email, buy minute packs in USD, and switch between English and Chinese in Settings. Interviews still work best on a computer; use the Android app when you must interview from your phone.
- Dual engine stays on: when dual engine is on, a low balance no longer switches it back to a single engine, and the switch shows roughly how many minutes of boost are left. If the minutes run out, the interview pauses as before and Continue interview picks up after a top-up.
- More room in VIP passes: unused allowance in one window rolls into later windows, up to twice the normal allowance per window. If both the window allowance and your minutes are used up, an interview already in progress can keep going for about an hour per window without using minutes.
- External VM mode (Windows): in Settings → General (off by default), keeps the overlay on top without stealing focus when VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox or a full-screen Remote Desktop session covers it.
- Secure screen share (Mac, off by default): for the few apps that ignore window-level hiding when sharing an entire screen. Turn it on in Settings → General; during the interview choose the Extended Display when sharing. It turns off when the interview ends.
- Support chat attachments: send a screenshot, PDF, Word or Excel file, or a ZIP straight from the in-app support chat. Support can preview images and download the rest.
- Longer VIP passes: 60-day and 90-day passes are now available, with eye contact correction included.
Fixes
- Mac eye contact: fixed the waiting screen in meeting apps after allowing eye contact correction, with a one-click Reopen CalmRound when the camera extension appears after launch.
- Windows eye contact: fewer working cameras are reported as unsupported, and RTX cards that are not on NVIDIA's published list can try the effect once.
- No gray frame on Apple-silicon Macs when sharing the entire screen in a browser.
- Microphone noise warning: if the microphone only picks up noise and no speech is recognized, the overlay says so and switches to another working microphone when one is available.
- More reliable start on computers that needed several clicks, and no multi-minute freeze when a headset is plugged in or the audio device changes.
- Speaker mode: your words are less often treated as the interviewer's question, and the interviewer's words less often become yours.
Improvements
- Shortcuts and tray: Ctrl+backtick is shown as Ctrl+~. On Windows, one click on the tray icon opens the main window.
- Easier to bring the overlay back: the overlay's click-through and hide buttons explain how to restore it before the shortcut is known, and the tray menu has Show overlay or Restore overlay clicks.
- Cleaner overlay: thin translucent scrollbars that hide in click-through mode, and focus mode now uses the opacity you set.
v1.0.99
New
- Several material sets: keep separate resumes, job descriptions and knowledge bases in one account and switch between them before an interview. Role and years of experience follow the set; imports and AI organizing only go into the set you're using.
- Turn script pages by hand: the script window has page up and page down plus optional auto-scroll, with its own shortcuts (Ctrl+Shift+8 and 9 by default).
- Servers in the US and Germany: sessions in North America and Europe pick the nearer route automatically for answers, transcription, translation and the interview summary.
- Translation under foreign-language answers: English and Japanese answers are split into short chunks, each followed by its own translation, so you can keep reading the original straight through. Interviewer lines in the transcript are translated too, using a dedicated translation model that knows interview terms.
- New live speech recognition engine: the first line appears sooner. If the interviewer switches language mid-interview, recognition switches with them.
- One-click Windows install: no more "who is this for" step.
- Automatic updates can be turned off: Settings → About & updates. Update notices and manual updates still work.
- If screen recording permission fails during the pre-interview check, you can switch to speaker mode right there.
Fixes
- Screenshot answers stay in your records: answers from F4/F5 screenshots used to disappear from record review and HTML/Markdown exports. Now the question, screenshot and answer are all kept.
- Faster screenshot answers: an extra screen capture before each answer added 0.4–3 seconds. It's gone, and pausing no longer drops an answer in progress.
- On Mac, Restart to update works again, and screen recording permission no longer gets stuck at "granted but not working".
- Steadier privacy: if the transparent overlay can't keep itself out of screen capture, it switches to an opaque window instead of showing up. The overlay no longer pops up and grabs focus during coding tests.
- Installs that wouldn't open because of an old Visual C++ runtime now fix themselves.
- If system audio fails, the message names the device. The Windows pre-interview check has a live system-audio test.
- Shortcut hints match your platform: Option, Command and Control on Mac.
- F1 knows which question you mean: if the interviewer only says "right, okay", it answers the latest unanswered question. Pressing F1 while you read an answer no longer regenerates it.
- Better echo handling in speaker mode: the interviewer's voice leaking into your mic isn't treated as you speaking.
- Hiding and showing the overlay no longer turns it into a black box in screenshots.
- Knowledge base imports: notes with headings but no Q/A markers are sorted by AI into ready-to-say answers and reference material. Your text is stored word for word.
- Diagnostics that fail to upload on weak networks retry on their own.
- A stuck Alt key no longer turns the next A into Alt+A.
- Backup route: if the main server can't be reached from your location, the app switches to a backup route and remembers which one works.
Improvements
- One key hides CalmRound: Ctrl+~ hides or restores the overlay, or the main window when no overlay is open.
- Close buttons stay in place when long panels scroll.
- If your camera can't do eye contact correction, the check says so plainly and gives the verdict first.
- Unsupported import formats (.doc, images, spreadsheets, slides) come with instructions for converting them.
- Overlay toolbar buttons that sometimes didn't respond to clicks now work, on the script window too.
- Translations stay lined up with their chunk and no longer leave big gaps.
- AI organizing shows the cost up front: it's counted by section (a resume is about one), and before you start you see how many sections, how many are free and how many minutes it uses. Unused sections are refunded if you cancel or it fails.
- The update dialog's Update now installs inside the app when the new version is already downloaded.
